Sven Baszio studied biology and informatics and received his doctoral grade in biology of Goethe University Frankfurt. He worked as a research assistant with a focus on palaeobiology and evolution at the Senckenberg Naturmuseum in Frankfurt and Royal Tyrrell Museum in Alberta, Canada. Afterwards, he worked for the Humboldt Foundation in Bonn, eventually as head of Division Europe and in charge of the Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship Programme. Since 2011 Dr. Sven Baszio has been a member of the board of directors of the foundation Jugend forscht e.V. in Hamburg.
