Johannes Penner is Curator for Research and Zoology at the NGO Frogs and Friends and a guest scientist at the Natural History Museum in Berlin as well as the University of Freiburg. As a biologist with a focus on ecology, he is mainly interested in biodiversity, how it is distributed, what the underlying reasons are and how it can be protected. Since his childhood, he is especially captivated by amphibians and reptiles. He is glad to be able to work with various species in tropical regions and on home soil and he is committed to getting more people interested in frogs, snakes, and other animal groups in the future and thereby save as many species as possible from extinction.
