Prof. Dr. med. Dipl. geol. Hanns-Christian Gunga studied Geology and Paleontology at WWU Münster from 1973-1980, and Human Medicine at WWU Münster and FU Berlin from 1979-1987. Further stations are: 1989 Doctoral thesis, 1997 Habilitation, 2004 Full Professor at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin (Dept. of Physiology). His main research interests are space medicine, blood, cardiovascular and renal physiology as well as comparative physiology in extreme environments. Since 2000 he is the speaker of the Center for Space Medicine and Extreme Environments Berlin.
