It’s a wrap on SILBERSALZ Science & Media Festival 2020 – A comprehensive programme over  five days with exciting films and discussions, interesting panel discussions, impressive exhibitions, and stunning light installations. Plus: A varied youth programme.

This year, the outdoor art installations were particularly popular with the people of Halle. The aurora BOREALIS by Swiss artist Dan Acher on Hallmarkt, and ARCHIBIO, by Czech artist Andrej Boleslavsky, in which oversized ants and growing sprouts are projected in live and a timelapse along the facade of the Kunstmuseum Moritzburg.

The films, talks and events were also well attended or even fully booked, even though they required prior ticket reservations due to the Corona measures. Other highlights were the events that explored the MOSAiC expedition of the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, as well as films and talks on environmental issues and climate activism.

For the first time, the SILBERSALZ Science & Media Awards took place – online. The show honoured films that are a successful example of science communication. The awards were presented digitally and uniquely by successful content creators.

SILBERSALZbyYouth was active in Neustädter Passage 13 and put together an exciting programme: At the Game Convention "Halle of Games" not only new games were played, also discussions on the industry took place in workshops. Several times Germany's first "citizen research ship", the MS Halle.Sciene, set off and cruised along the river Saale. In addition, the “World Climate Conference" were re-staged to agree on measures against climate change in tough debates.

On the SILBERSALZ Festival Facebook page, the award show and the talks of the "SILBERSALZ spricht" series are still available to watch.

Save the Date for next years SILBERSALZ Festival: from 23. to 27. June 2021 – of course in Halle.
