Franz Böhm is a filmmaker originally from Stuttgart, Germany. At 16, after working his way up to first Assistant Director, he made his first solo film Harmonie der Anderen. After working for the German TV Channel ZDF, Franz next project found him living with youth experiencing homelessness, the resulting documentary, Christmas Wishes, was selected as the opening film for the German Youth Film Awards. Franz then directed the short drama Good Luck; which premiered at the British Independent Film Festival.

Following his work for the documentary production company, 1185 Films, Franz is currently developing new projects in London. DEAR FUTURE CHILDREN is his debut feature film which was awarded with the audience award at its world premiere at the 42nd Max-Ophüls-Preis Film Festival. Its international premieres were held at CPH:DOX and Hot Docs International Film Festival. At Hot Docs, it won the audience award which qualifies the film for the Academy Awards shortlist.
Franz Böhm is a member of the Bundesverband Filmregie (German federal association of film directors).

Franz is nominated for this year’s First Steps award, the newcomer award from the German Film Academy.
