Dr. Andreas Wilting

Department of Ecological Dynamics, Deputy Lead, Biodiversity Dynamics Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW)

Dr Andreas Wilting is a scientist in the Department of Ecological Dynamics and Deputy Lead of the Biodiversity Dynamics Group at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research in Berlin. The research of his group focuses on the ecology and evolution of mammals in Southeast Asia, integrating in situ field research, species distribution modelling and genetic approaches to explore the ecological requirements, as well as the distribution of these species. Dr. Wilting is particularly interested in establishing new high-tech methods that will help to record wildlife populations in tropical rainforests more accurately and quickly. In their work, his research group collaborates closely with local conservation actors in order to integrate the data and results directly into species conservation measures.
