Theaterplay I Das Theater des Anthropozän I Germany 2020 I 120 Min

A journey into the forests of prehistoric days, present and future.

Now more than ever do we realize that global climate change is also threatening the world's forests. The news report regularly on enormous forest fires in Australia, the Amazon region, Africa, Siberia, Greenland as well as in many other places around the world. In 2020, Germany faced the third dry summer in a row. These droughts not only increase the risk for forest fires, they also make the trees more susceptible to infestation by bark beetles. The staged reading "Requiem for a Forest" pursues the forest motif from myth to poetry and songs to contemporary literature. These poetic contributions will be accompanied by registers and prose passages with tips for everyday life. Furthermore, the two scientists Antje Boetius and Kathrin Möller will report on the origins and the global function of the forest ecosystem as well as the current threats that it faces, especially in Germany.
