Abdelghafar Salim

Abdelghafar Salim is a researcher at the 'Law and Anthropology' Department of the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle/Saale.

He studied German Studies, German as a foreign language and Islamic Studies at the Universities of Al-Azhar and Ain Shams (Cairo) as well as at Leipzig University. In addition, he is the coordinator of the Young Network of Law and Islam of the Arabic and Islamic Law Association. He conducts his doctorate at the University of Leipzig in the field of law, Islam and anthropology and is doing research on the daily lives of Muslim refugees in the new German states.
