Heartbound (2018, Documentary): What happens to “love” when it becomes a currency for a better life? Speaking as filmmaker and anthropologist on love in a global perspective, Sine Plambech will discuss questions of love and migration explored her film Heartbound on marriages between Thai women and Western men. What does the intimate stage of marriage between women from the Global South and men from the Global North reveal about broader questions of borders, migration, gender and social justice? How can we create visual images to counteract stereotypical ideas about love? What about the love that exists across borders between families, mothers and children? What are we willing to do for love?
