Dr. Sine Plambech is an anthropologist, film director, and Senior Researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies. She is a former Adjunct Ass. Professor at Barnard, Columbia University and has worked for the UN and as an advisor for the European Commission, Governments and NGOs on migration and trafficking. Fifteen years of research in migrant communities in Thailand, Nigeria, Italy, and Denmark on migration, human trafficking, the European migration crisis, sex work migration, and marriage migration.

Based on her research she is behind six films, among them her latest Heartbound (2018) co-directed with Janus Metz which was awarded the American Anthropological Associations Prize for Best Feature and the British Royal Anthropological Institutes Richard Werbner Award. She received the Danish Research Council’s young Elite Sapere Aude Award in 2016.
