SILBERSALZ in the Zoo – Talk: "Animal Jobs"

.Animal helpers have become an indispensable part of our everyday life. They provide incredible and at times even bizarre services for us. In the USA, for instance, capuchin monkeys are used as household helps for disabled people, giant pouched rats work as mine sweepers in Africa, bees act as environmental detectives in German airports and tapeworms are used in the USA as diet assistants. The CIA has deployed cats as spies, the American Marines have used dolphins as soldiers. And then there are the pigeons as radiologists, the monkeys as harvest workers and the frogs as pregnancy tests. And who would have thought that small flies would be able to successfully fight hunger in Africa?

Afterwards, he and the Zoo Director Dr. Dennis Müller are holding an entertaining and stimulating discussion about the most diverse aspects of the human-animal relationship.
