Uli Kunz grew up in the south German Kehl am Rhein. As a teenager he discovered his love for the ocean and got into professional diving. He studied Marine Geosciences and Oceanography in Kiel and additionally became a scientific diver. Since then Kunz joins expeditions worldwide, for Greenpeace, Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research and the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research. His public audience is fascinated by his documentation, whether film or photo, that document the dramatic changes of the ocean and overfishing of the seas – caused by the influence of climate change. He is also active as hosts of the well-known German science show Terra X in ZDF.
