Professor Heribert Hofer was born in 1960 and obtained his Ph.D. from Oxford University in 1986. As a behavioral ecologist fascinated by carnivores, he set up and ran – with Dr. Marion East – the Serengeti spotted hyena project for the past 32 years. He also runs the Leibniz Institute for Zoo & Wildlife Research to understand the adaptability of wildlife in today’s world and aid its conservation.
