SILBERSALZ in June: exhibition + talks
Taking a glance at our planet, like only astronauts in space usually can: SILBERSALZ lets the earth float in the Ulrichskirche from 18. to 21.6.2020. Luke Jerram has reconstructed the earth in a fascinating giant model.
It allows us to take a closer look at our familiar planet. As a vulnerable, blue planet, the Earth seems to float in the vastness of black space - this is how astronauts describe their view from space. Thanks to Luke Jerram, exhibition guests can now experience such moments of wonder. His model of the Earth has a diameter of seven metres; every centimetre corresponds to 18 kilometres in the original.
This year SILBERSALZ is themed "Homeland Earth" and "Gaia“ impressively shows what it's all about: the beauty and diversity of our planet. Within the framework of a multifaceted lecture program, renowned experts from science, research, and economics will be speaking on 19 June 2020 about the state of our home earth and our common future. They will provide food for thought on the possibilities of transformation with regard to biodiversity, climate change, and, of course, how to deal with pandemics such as COVID-19 and their causes - and enter into a discussion with our viewers online, as all talks will be broadcast via live stream. The Livestream in cooperation with MDR is free of charge and can be watched on the SILBERSALZ social media channels.
All talks will be held in German.
